About me
I’m a visual alchemist. A multimedia artist and cinematographer based in Berlin, Germany.
My work seeks to broaden perspectives on life, and to build a connection between reality and the ethereal domain that nurtures imagination, emotions and unconditional connections.
Transformation is both a narrative theme and an expressive medium in my work. I move across disciplines such as film, painting, performance and installations. My images blend reality and fantasy and lead to a unique sensory experience.
As a cinematographer, I select collaborations with directors and producers who are keen to give a voice to those less heard within Western society and to explore unconventional narrative approaches, supporting projects that aim to make a social impact, including in production (equal pay, diverse crews, green films). My preferred formats are documentaries and short fiction.
After years in the field of still images, when I stepped into filmmaking in 2022 it felt like a natural next chapter for me, an evolution, that blends various disciplines and allows me to bring all my interests together in a dynamic holistic way.

My academic background is in design, and my artistic research takes sound and drawing as starting points.
In 2007 I started to work as an illustrator and storyboard artist for the world of advertising and for editorial projects, for music labels and fashion brands. You can visit my website bireau.com
In 2017, after a TED Talk in Italy about the social value of drawing, I decided to move to Berlin. This city gave me opportunities I could have never imagined. I started a new chapter of my life, and fell in love with film and visual arts again.
Since 2010, I have continued to teach drawing, both privately and in workshops at institutions, providing people with a technical tool, a language and an opportunity for change.
For a long time, the practice that complemented my drawing lessons was my ‘Body + Sign’ performance, also known as Land-In Performance. In this performance, repetitive gestures act as mantras, enabling participants to connect with their inner selves and create their own worlds. I also ran guided workshops based on this practice for people who wanted to explore the body as a tool for drawing.
I firmly believe that nurturing creativity requires a broad range of life experiences, and that artistic expression is about more than just a job; it enables us to reflect on life itself. This is why I have sought to gain as many experiences as possible in life, both personally and professionally, and I draw on these in my daily work and teaching.
